Hawk families,

Happy October! Fall has officially arrived, bringing some hints of cooler weather.
As we settle into the rhythm of the school year, there are two important academic reminders to keep on your radar:
  • Quarter 1 Ends on Friday, October 16: Can you believe we are already wrapping up our first nine weeks? Teachers are finalizing grades and preparing to review student progress as we complete the first leg of our school year. Teachers are also finishing up parent conferences. If you have not yet discussed your child's progress with his/her teacher(s), please reach out to set up a time to talk with the teacher.
  • Monitor Progress on Focus: Please make it a routine to log in to Focus regularly to check your child’s grades and attendance. Reviewing Focus together is a fantastic way to celebrate their hard work, identify areas where they might need extra support, and ensure there are no surprises when report cards are issued.

Fall Learning & Fun at Home
Learning doesn't stop at the end of the school day. Autumn offers wonderful, hands-on opportunities to build math, literacy, and science skills at home while making great family memories:
  1. Pumpkin Math & Estimation: Grab a pumpkin at the market or patch! Before carving or decorating, have your child estimate its weight, measure its circumference with a ribbon or tape measure, and count the seeds inside.
  2. Fall Reading & Cozy Cocoa: Head to the local library for fall-themed books. Create a cozy reading nook at home with a warm blanket and hot cocoa, and take turns reading aloud to build vocabulary and comprehension skills.
  3. Autumn Nature Walk: Take a walk in your neighborhood or a local park. Have your child collect different leaves, acorns, and pinecones. At home, you can sort them by color, shape, or size, or make leaf rubbings using crayons and paper to observe the leaf patterns up close.
  4. Kitchen Science & Baking: Bake an apple pie or pumpkin treats together. Measuring ingredients is a practical, engaging way to practice fractions, units of measurement, and following multi-step instructions.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership, support, and dedication to your child’s success. We are looking forward to a wonderful end to the first quarter!

Parent drop off and pick up

Parent Drop Off
We are noticing a number of parents that are parking in the no-parking area in front of the school. That area is a no-parking area due to safety. We will be having parents that pull in that area join the parent drop off line. Thank you for helping to keep all our Hawks safe!

Parent Pick Up
Our front office will be closed for early pick up from 2:45 through dismissal (approximately 4:10). Parents who arrive after 2:45 will need to pick up their child through the parent pick up line. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Change in Transportation
If you are changing your child's transportation - please send in a note with your child - including your child's full name, teacher name, the date of the change and what the change is.
We strongly discourage emails for transportation changes - if a staff member is out or doesn't see their email during the day, your message will not be seen.

We will not accept changes in dismissal after 2:00 to ensure we have time for teachers and staff to be notified.

Title I News

Research continues to confirm that parents are a vital part of the educational process and of the educational experiences of their children. When school personnel and families work together, relationships are developed that support learning and children are provided an enhanced opportunity for success in school and throughout life. As a parent, you play an important role in your child’s education. We encourage parents to be involved as much as possible. Gain information and be part of the decision making process by joining advisory committees at the school and district level.
