Hawk families,

Happy New Year!
As we begin the month of January, we are excited to welcome our students back and start the new year refreshed and ready to learn. This is a wonderful time to reflect on our successes and set new goals for growth and achievement.
January is a busy and important month at school. Students are diving back into learning, strengthening their skills, and continuing to build positive habits in the classroom. We also focus on reinforcing kindness, responsibility, and perseverance as we move into the second half of the school year.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support at home. Your encouragement—especially with reading, routines, and attendance—helps set our kids up for success each day.
We look forward to a productive and positive start to the new year and all the learning ahead!

Literacy Week

We are excited to celebrate Florida Literacy Week with the theme “Read, White, and Blue: Celebrating 250 Chapters of America.” Throughout the week, students will explore the joy of reading while learning about America’s history—one chapter at a time!

Literacy Week is a wonderful opportunity to encourage a love of reading and to remind students that books help us understand our past, our present, and our future. You can support at home by reading together, talking about favorite books, and celebrating reading as part of everyday life.
Thank you for partnering with us to make Florida Literacy Week a meaningful and memorable experience for our students!

Hawk Leaders

Congratulations to our Hawk Leaders of the Month!
In December, we celebrated students who show KINDNESS! These students consistently show care and compassion by helping classmates, using kind words, including others, showing respect to teachers and peers. Their actions remind us that small acts of kindness can make a big difference in our school community.
We are so proud of our Hawk Leaders of the Month recipients for modeling kindness every day!

Way to go, Hawks!

Reminders

We know that Florida weather this time of year is never predictable. We start many mornings in winter and can end in a late spring feeling. Please remember to write your child's name inside his/her jacket so we can return it if it gets left behind.
We also have a number of water bottles and lunch boxes that are not labeled - please add your child's name to these as well.

Runners Club - Healthy Hawks is open to 4th and 5th graders, up to 30 students. Please return permission slips asap, as spots are limited. Practice will begin on January 12th, with drop off at 8:10 towards the back of the bus ramp.
We appreciate our staff that volunteer to facilitate this club, as well as other clubs at CSE.

🍎 Adopt-a-Class Program

The "Adopt-a-Class" program is a wonderful opportunity for businesses, individuals, and community organizations to directly support our students and teachers. By "adopting a classroom," partners help ensure our students have additional resources to support their learning.
  • What is it? It's a partnership where a sponsor provides financial support to a specific classroom, grade level, or school program (like Art, Music, or PE).
  • What does the donation cover? The funds are used directly by the teacher to purchase additional materials to expand on current lessons.
  • Why is it important? Teachers often spend their own money on supplies to meet classroom needs. The Adopt-a-Class program helps lighten this financial burden and enhances the educational opportunities for all students in that classroom.

If you are a parent who owns a business, know of a community group, or simply wish to make an individual contribution, you can help us by reaching out! Donations are tax deductible.

School Advisory Council (SAC)

Our School Advisory Council (SAC) meets quarterly on Mondays at 4:15. All parents, students, staff and community members are welcome, and encouraged, to attend. You do not need to be a voting member to participate.

Our next meetings are
Monday, February 9 at 4:15
Monday, April 13 at 4:15

SAC plays an important role in shaping the direction of our school, and your voice can make a real difference. We strongly encourage you to join us and be part of this collaborative team!

Visiting Campus?

New Visitor Management System
Citrus County Schools has recently implemented a new visitor management system to help enhance campus safety and security. All parents and visitors are required to present a valid driver's license each time you visit CSE. Your ID will be scanned upon arrival. Thank you for helping to keep our school community safe.

Title I News

Research continues to confirm that parents are a vital part of the educational process and of the educational experiences of their children. When school personnel and families work together, relationships are developed that support learning and children are provided an enhanced opportunity for success in school and throughout life. As a parent, you play an important role in your child’s education. We encourage parents to be involved as much as possible. Volunteering, mentoring, and attending parent conferences are all parent involvement activities. Gain information and be part of the decision making process by joining advisory committees at the school and district level.

Hawk Pledge

Our Hawk Pledge represents what we want our students doing each day to help them continue to grow as a learner and be a positive part of our school community.
Please take a few minutes to discuss this pledge with your child and what it means so we can all support learning and citizenship.
