Hawk families,

It is hard to believe we have already arrived at the month of December! The school year is flying by, and the holiday season is officially upon us. We know these next few weeks will have some unique energy - hard work in the classroom and growing excitement for the upcoming break/holiday events.

As we head into the final weeks of the calendar year and close out the second quarter, our students are diligently working to complete their academic goals for the 1st semester.
  • Please encourage your child to stay focused and finish any pending assignments.
  • Report Cards: Report cards will be sent home when we return in January; however the quarter ends this month. I encourage you to contact your child's teacher with any questions regarding his/her progress. Skyward is also a great place for you to keep up on your child's assignments.
This month also brings us Progress Monitoring 2 (PM2). This state testing is for students in grades K-5, occurring 3 times a year (August/December/May). Please encourage your child to do his/her best on this assessment. It provides vital information to us as we determine who has mastered appropriate grade level standards, who needs remediation/ enrichment, etc.
  • K-2 will be testing on December 2nd & 3rd.
  • Students in grades 3 and 4 will test on December 9th & 10th.
  • Fifth graders will test on December 11th & 12th.

December can be a very busy and sometimes stressful month for everyone. We want to ensure our students remain healthy, rested, and ready to learn right up until break:
  • Maintain Routines: Please help your child maintain a consistent bedtime and a healthy diet to support their focus and learning, even with holiday activities starting up.
  • Dress for the Weather: We never know what Florida weather will bring us - but as we head into days that need jackets, please make sure your child's name is written on the tag in case it gets left behind.

I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to our incredible parents, dedicated staff, and supportive community partners. Your commitment and partnership are what make Citrus Springs Elementary such a wonderful place for Wings of Wisdom and watching our kids soar!
On behalf of the entire staff, I wish you all a safe, restful, and joyous holiday season, and a very happy New Year. We look forward to welcoming our students back in January!

Reading Challenge

We are looking forward to seeing how many minutes our kids read over the Thanksgiving Break.
This challenge will continue in December/ January during the holiday break as well.
Remember to keep track of the minutes your child reads over the break and have him/her turn the reading log in when we return in January. Reading logs should be turned in upon returning in December, and then again when we return in January.
Our local public libraries are also a great place to get books and participate in reading-related activities. Check out their website for specific information: https://www.citruslibraries.org/

Hawk Leaders

Congratulations to our Hawk Leaders of the Month!
This month we are celebrating students who show what it means to be GRATEFUL! A grateful student notices the good around them and expresses appreciation through kind words and thoughtful actions. These students say “thank you,” show respect, and recognize the efforts of teachers, classmates, and family members.
Being grateful helps create a positive school community where everyone feels valued and appreciated. We are so proud of our Hawk Leaders of the Month recipients for modeling thankful hearts and positive attitudes every day!

Way to go, Hawks!

🍎 Adopt-a-Class Program

The "Adopt-a-Class" program is a wonderful opportunity for businesses, individuals, and community organizations to directly support our students and teachers. By "adopting a classroom," partners help ensure our students have additional resources to support their learning.
  • What is it? It's a partnership where a sponsor provides financial support to a specific classroom, grade level, or school program (like Art, Music, or PE).
  • What does the donation cover? The funds are used directly by the teacher to purchase additional materials to expand on current lessons.
  • Why is it important? Teachers often spend their own money on supplies to meet classroom needs. The Adopt-a-Class program helps lighten this financial burden and enhances the educational opportunities for all students in that classroom.

If you are a parent who owns a business, know of a community group, or simply wish to make an individual contribution, you can help us by reaching out! Donations are tax deductible.

School Advisory Council (SAC)

Our School Advisory Council (SAC) meets quarterly on Mondays at 4:15. All parents, students, staff and community members are welcome, and encouraged, to attend. You do not need to be a voting member to participate.

Our next meetings are
Monday, February 9 at 4:15
Monday, April 13 at 4:15

SAC plays an important role in shaping the direction of our school, and your voice can make a real difference. We strongly encourage you to join us and be part of this collaborative team!

Visiting Campus?

New Visitor Management System
Citrus County Schools has recently implemented a new visitor management system to help enhance campus safety and security. All parents and visitors are required to present a valid driver's license each time you visit CSE. Your ID will be scanned upon arrival. Thank you for helping to keep our school community safe.

Title I News

Research continues to confirm that parents are a vital part of the educational process and of the educational experiences of their children. When school personnel and families work together, relationships are developed that support learning and children are provided an enhanced opportunity for success in school and throughout life. As a parent, you play an important role in your child’s education. We encourage parents to be involved as much as possible. Volunteering, mentoring, and attending parent conferences are all parent involvement activities. Gain information and be part of the decision making process by joining advisory committees at the school and district level.

Hawk Pledge

Our Hawk Pledge represents what we want our students doing each day to help them continue to grow as a learner and be a positive part of our school community.
Please take a few minutes to discuss this pledge with your child and what it means so we can all support learning and citizenship.
